Mandarin Language Semesters |
Cross-Culture Courses Show |
China’s long and illustrious history has seen many changes. This coupled with natural boundaries that make it the 4th largest nation by landmass and the largest by population has given rise to a varied and multi-faceted culture. Although China is now pushing for complete modernization there still exist many roots to ancient customs and behavior in Chinese society, often unfathomable to the outside observer. Therefore, it is unrealistic to expect that a foreign visitor coming to China could immediately understand, much less adjust to, these customs. If you have recently arrived (and even for those who have been here a while) the transition into Chinese life is not always smooth.
In order to help you understand more about China and its people, culture and customs, iMandarin offers acculturation courses so that you can integrate into Chinese people’s lives and improve your quality of life in China.
We frequently hold courses that cover:
●Traditional Chinese Culture
●Introduction to Chinese Economy, Politics, and Geography
●Chinese holidays and their origins
●Arts, Crafts and Games of China
●Living, Working, Eating, Doing business in China
●Differences between North and South

Chinese Mandarin Pronunciation Show |
| Chinese does not have a phonetic alphabet and characters don’t accurately reflect pronunciation. A system of pinyin is created so that people may learn Mandarin pronunciation. Pinyin is a way to transcribe Chinese characters so that people can pronounce them. The writing of pinyin is similar to English alphabet but there are also many differences. Each Chinese character carries a tone, (with a total of 4 tones in standard Mandarin Chinese). The use of an incorrect tone can completely change your intended meaning. This course is designed for beginners as an understanding of proper pronunciation, and for advanced students a way to diminish their accent. |
